Candle Safety

~~Never leave a burning candle unattended.

~~Keep away from children at all times.

~~Keep candle and melt pool free of wick trimmings, matches or other foreign materials, as these can become a fire hazard.

~~Keep wicks trimmed to ΒΌ inch to prevent carbon build up (mushrooming of the wick) and smoking.

~~Always trim the wicks after the wax has cooled to make disposing of wick trimmings easiest. You can use a pair of nail clippers to trim the wick.

~~Keep out of drafts to ensure even burning and to prevent smoking.

~~Place on a protected, heat-resistant, dry and level surface.

~~If you would like to place on wood furniture or other non heat-resistant surface, please use a trivet or metal hot plate to protect the surface from damage.

~~The container may become very hot. Avoid moving candle or walking with candle while lit or until wax has cooled. Molten wax is very hot and can cause burns if an accident should occur.

~~To prevent wax from spattering when extinguishing your candle place your finger in front the flame and gently blow. An even better way is to use a candle snuffer or wick dipper.

~~NEVER allow the flame to come in contact with the edges of a candle jar or container. If your wick should become off center simply reposition the wick with a skewer or other metal type object while the wax is still molten or soft. A flame in contact with candle glass can shatter the container.

~~Do not burn a candle if your container has become chipped or cracked. The heat can cause further damage to the glass and pose a risk of shattering.

~~Allow your candle to cool completely before replacing the lid.

General Care for your Candles

Candles have a memory. For the first burn of your candle please make sure there is adequate time to burn 1 hour for every inch of the candle’s diameter. This will provide a complete even melt pool of your candle and prevent what is known as Hang Up or wax left on the sides of the jars. If you burn your candles for short periods of time without allowing for a full melt pool, the candle will remember this, burn to it’s previous edge and tunnel instead of giving you a clean full burn. Over burning of your candle can also cause uneven burning and a faster release of fragrance. To ensure the life of your candles fragrance from beginning to end you should never burn a candle for more than 3-4 hours at a time. Votive candles must be burned in a tight fitting container. They are made from a low melt point wax and are not a freestanding candle like a pillar. Strong lighting and sun can fade your candle colors and moisture can inhibit relighting. It is best to store candles in a cool dry place. While we take every step to provide you with a virtually smokeless/sootless candle, all highly fragranced candles can produce a small amount of smoke. Following proper wick trimming instructions is a very important step to prevent this. Should some soot build up on the inside of your container, simply wipe with a damp cloth once the wax has completely cooled.
